Thursday Night Football

The NFL has six teams on bye this week and this is one of the worst slates of games I can remember in the last couple of seasons. It’s only fitting that we kick off this terrible slate with a game between a backsliding Broncos’ squad against a Browns’ team that listed 20 players on the injury report to start the week. The Browns will be without Baker Mayfield this week and the game will be played in rainy, windy conditions. That’s one of the big reasons I’m taking Teddy Bridgewater (Den) under 243.5 passing yards (105 pts). I’m expecting the Broncos to stick to their rushing attack and short passing this week, and Teddy has padded his passing numbers with garbage-time production the last three weeks. I’m correlating Teddy’s lack of passing yards with Tim Patrick (Den) under 70.5 receiving yards (75 pts). Patrick has seen six or fewer targets in five of his six games, and he’s topped 42+ yards just twice this season. Good luck and enjoy this game if you can! — Tom Brolley

Sunday Football

Hoping to keep my Thrive Fantasy streak rolling, I will first be selecting Jalen Hurts over 315.5 passing/rushing yards (105 pts). I always look for these yardage combos, and Hurts has been above 315.5 combined yards in weeks one, three and four with 326, 361 and 434 combined yard weeks. The Raiders are also in the top ten defenses in total yards given up this season per game. My other selection will be Tom Brady under 312.5 passing yards (95 pts) this week, with a promise it does not have to do with my Bears fandom. The Chicago Bears actually give up the least total passing yards in the NFL currently, and average only 117.2 per game. Brady has also thrown for under 300 passing yards in 50% of his games this season so far.

As I laid out in my TNF writeup, this is a brutal slate of games so let’s start this week with a fun one and take Derrick Henry (Ten) over 119.5 rushing yards. Henry has 110+ rushing yards in each of his last five games and the Chiefs are giving up 4.7 YPC to RBs. Henry had 257/3 rushing in two matchups against Kansas City during the 2019 season. I’m taking Davante Adams (GB) over 95.5 receiving yards in a juicy matchup against the Football Team for my next prop. Adams saw a season-low five targets last week but he still turned in 4/89 receiving. He has a great bounce-back spot against a Washington secondary that’s giving up the second-most FPG (46.4) to WRs this season, including 4/85/2 receiving to Marquez Callaway two weeks ago. I’m selecting Mac Jones (NE) under 246.5 passing yards for my final prop of the week. The rookie posted a season-low 186 yards against the Jets in Week 2, and he’s thrown interceptions in four straight games with six picks overall. Enjoy this week’s slate the best you can with some wagers, and good luck as always! — Tom Brolley

Monday Night Football

We’re closing out the 2021 “Bye-mageddon” with one doozy of a contest between Jameis Winston and Geno Smith. I’m taking Kenny Stills (NO) under 23.5 receiving yards (95 pts) for my first prop on MNF. Stills has yet to top 17 receiving yards in his first three games back with the Saints this season, and it looks like Tre’Quan Smith will return this week to push everyone down the depth chart. I’m looking at Alex Collins (Sea) over 60.5 rushing and receiving yards (105 pts) for my other prop. It looks like he’ll be ready to play after sitting out the first two practices this week with a butt bruise. He’s assumed the top spot in the backfield the last two weeks, and he turned in 20/101/1 rushing on a 60% snap share in defeat to the Steelers in Week 6. This a tough matchup against the Saints but he should be active enough to climb over this total. Good luck! — Tom Brolley
