Fanball Week 1 Superflex Review

We are once again working with our friends over at Fanball and the NFFC for the FantasyPoints.com $4K SUPERFLEX Drive, which is a typical DFS contest but with a SuperFlex, so it’s a relatively unique way to play DFS.

Part of the appeal for our customers is they get a chance to compete against me, Joe Dolan, Tom Brolley, Graham Barfield, and Scott Barrett, and you can see our picks and processes each week.

This year, we promised to keep track of our standings each week and for the season. I plan on breaking balls in this article when I win, but there will be no ball-breaking for yours truly from Week 1, since I came in fourth out of five.

Congrats are in order to Joe Dolan, who not only won for the week in our little competition, but he also finished 38th out of 770 entries. Joe’s team was very top-heavy with Deebo Samuel and Adam Theilen going off, and he did have good production from his two QBs Jalen Hurts and Kirk Cousins. Joe still got a 2x return on his $5 investment despite poor performances from Marquez Calloway, Jakobi Myers, Robert Tonyan, and, to an extent, Antonio Gibson.

Congrats also to player @rocklandrew, who took down the Week 1 contest with 195 points, thanks to Kyler, Hurts, McCaffrey, D-Hop, and Jamaal Williams believe it or not. @rocklandrew even had stinkers from Darnell Mooney and Myles Gaskin and still took home the top prize.

Here’s our Week 1 staff finishes:
  1. Joe Dolan - 178
  2. Graham Barfield - 165.4
  3. Scott Barrett - 143.96
  4. John Hansen - 139.04
  5. Tom Brolley - 128.84

Graham also had a great showing in Week 1, with the same two QBs as Joe (Hurts and Kirkie), and despite starting Derrick Henry, Tyler Conklin, and Raheem Mostert, thanks to Adam Thielen and mostly Corey Davis.

Scott Barrett got a huge day out of Kyler Murray, but not so much from Josh Allen, and he got really burned by Mostert, Elijah Moore, Calloway, and Conkin, yet he still beat me and Brolley.

My squad really wasn’t that bad, but I also got hosted by Marquez Callaway, and Kyle Pitts crushed me. I used Jalen Hurts, which was good, and Baker Mayfield, which was not good because he got 0 TDs. I guessed wrong on the weekly Thielan vs. Justin Jefferson argument, going with Jefferson, and Terry McLaurin was underwhelming. I also used Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, and Gabe Davis.

Finally, the Grinder Tom Brolley had some really good plays in his lineup, like Kyler Murray, Christian McCaffrey, and DeAndre Hopkins, but he got crushed by a few selections like Raheem Mostert, Elijah Moore, Julio Jones, and Tyler Conklin.

We’ll be back in Week 2, so sign up today and see if you can beat our staff!
