Week 12 Streaming DSTs

If you are one of those hooligans who streams defenses each week, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll be looking for 50% rostered or less in Yahoo! Leagues.

Chicago Bears (Chi, 26%) @ Det

It can’t be as easy as just picking against the Lions every week…or can it? The Lions have been a top-5 opponent for DSTs all season, averaging just 16 points, 2.7 sacks, and 0.8 INTs per game. They also may have to start backup QB Tim Boyle again. The Bears will also start their backup, but that’s Andy Dalton, so not the same dropoff. The Bears have lost Khalil Mack, but it hasn’t slowed them down one bit. They have 10 sacks in their last two games without Mack. The Bears are a road favorite and are expected to keep the Lions under 20 points…again.

Philadelphia Eagles (Phi, 19%) @ NYG

The Eagles again finished in the top-5 for DST scoring, a feat they’ve achieved every time they make this list. They scored a defensive TD along with 2 INTs and fumble recovery. This defense continues to be underrated. They do lack in the sack category, however. Their 18 sacks are 3rd-fewest, and if you take away their outlier 6-sack game, they’re dead last. But outside of that, they’ve been a stout defense against average or weak opponents. You may use one of those descriptors for their Week 12 opponent. The Giants average just 18.1 points per game, and Daniel Jones has been throwing about 1 INT per game.

Houston Texans (Hou, 2%) vs. NYJ

Now that you’ve cleaned off your screen from spitting coffee all over it, the Houston D has been kinda ballin’ out lately. In their last two games, they held Miami to 17 points and Tennessee to 13 points. And if you’re worried that Houston only had a good game against Miami because they’re not a good offense, may I interest you in their Week 12 opponent? The Jets offense hasn’t scored more than 17 points since their Mike White stretch (who later turned back into a pumpkin), and are the 3rd-best option for opposing DSTs. Remove the Great (Mike) White Hope games, they’re easily the best option for DSTs. Houston has 6 sacks, 6 INTs, and 4 fumble recoveries in their last two games, and should get stud pass-rusher Jonathan Greenard back this week. And for the first time this season, Houston is (gasp) favored.
